Shift Lead (Lead Budtender)
Green Dispensary
Position Overview
The Shift Lead is a key support role within the dispensary, responsible for assisting the leadership team in day-to-day operations while also serving customers as a Budtender. This hybrid position ensures smooth shift transitions, helps guide team members during assigned shifts, and has authority to input discount codes for customer transactions. The Shift Lead leads by example on the sales floor, fosters a positive work environment, and helps ensure compliance with Nevada cannabis regulations. This position is ideal for individuals looking to take the next step in their retail cannabis career while still engaging directly with customers.
Key Responsibilities
Shift Operations & Support:
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, ensuring all procedures are followed accurately and efficiently.
  • Lead daily shift meetings to communicate goals, promotions, product updates, and operational notes.
  • Support the Assistant Manager and General Manager by guiding team members during shifts and ensuring smooth workflow.
  • Input authorized discount codes for transactions in accordance with company policies and promotion schedules.
  • Monitor the sales floor to ensure compliance with operational standards, customer service expectations, and safety protocols.
  • Address customer concerns or escalate issues to management as needed.
  • Oversee employee break schedules and ensure adequate coverage at all times.
  • Maintain a positive attitude at work and lead with compassion, energy, and enthusiasm.

Budtending & Customer Service:
  • Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and compliant service to all customers, guiding them through product selections and consumption methods.
  • Maintain awareness of current promotions and communicate them effectively to customers.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling, register operation, and completion of transactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, product displays, and customer areas.
  • Promote loyalty programs and assist with customer enrollment and inquiries.

Compliance & Inventory Support:
  • Follow all state and local regulations regarding cannabis sales, customer verification, and security protocols.
  • Assist with inventory counts, restocking, and organization of products on the sales floor as needed.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance in all customer transactions.
  • Report any compliance concerns or inventory discrepancies to management immediately.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a cannabis retail environment.
  • Strong understanding of Nevada cannabis laws and regulations or willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable using point-of-sale systems and other retail technology.
  • Ability to lead by example and support team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Nevada marijuana establishment agent card (or ability to obtain one).
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Success Metrics:
  • Consistent and accurate application of discount codes per policy.
  • High levels of customer satisfaction and positive feedback.
  • Compliance with all sales, safety, and security protocols.
  • Effective shift leadership and team collaboration.
  • Reliable performance in both Shift Lead and Budtending duties.
  • Ensure that all staff members are consistently up to date on Dutchie SOPs and training. Regularly review procedures with the team, provide necessary refreshers, and address any knowledge gaps to maintain compliance and efficiency in daily operations.
