Job Summary

The Hotel Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the physical functionality and safety of the hotelโ€™s facilities in accordance with standards to ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for guests and team members. This includes routine maintenance, emergency repairs, and responding to guest and staff work orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance tasks including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
  • Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain the physical appearance of the hotel, including interior and exterior areas.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance schedules for guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
  • Monitor and operate building automation systems and respond to alerts or alarms.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and hotel policies.
  • Report any major repair needs or hazards to the Chief Engineer.
  • Assist other departments with set-ups, moves, and minor repairs as needed.
  • Stay up to date on safety protocols and participate in emergency procedures or drills.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or technical certification preferred.
  • 1โ€“3 years of experience in building maintenance, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general construction.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • EPA certification or other relevant licenses are a plus.
  • Physically demanding role; may involve long periods of standing, bending, lifting, or working in high or confined spaces.
  • May be exposed to loud noises, extreme temperatures, or hazardous materials.
  • Uniform and safety equipment typically provided.
