We are currently hiring an Assistant Store Manager to help lead our new retail store at Tanger Outlets in Savannah, GA. As a key member of the store leadership team, you will support the Store Manager in driving sales, delivering exceptional customer service, and representing the brand with integrity and enthusiasm.

Main Purpose: The Assistant Store Manager will fully support and partner with the Store Manager in leading the day-to-day operations of the store. This role is responsible for all aspects of personnel management, training, customer service execution, merchandising, store operations, marketing, and display maintenance in the absence of the Store Manager.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Leadership & Culture: Partner with store leadership to foster a positive and results-driven culture of sales and performance for all associates.
  • Sales & Customer Experience: Support a team-selling environment that benefits the Spring Step brand, associates, and customers alike.
  • Team Development: Participate in all aspects of store recruitment, focusing on retaining and developing top talent for the store.
  • Training & Coaching: Teach, coach, and train store associates within the guidelines set by the Store Manager and field leadership.
  • Performance Management: Take responsibility for performance management and employee relations issues within the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Merchandising & Marketing: Ensure proper merchandising of products per company directives and assist in executing marketing initiatives and store displays.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Provide world-class customer service and instill a customer-first attitude within the store's sales team.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee store asset security through adherence to risk management policies, including daily bank deposits, opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and compliance with store balances.

Key Outputs/Results:

  • Sales Culture: Drive a sales culture by using incentives, effective communication, and consistent brand promotion.
  • Staffing & Scheduling: Use daily productivity targets to ensure appropriate staffing levels in the store and communicate goals clearly to all associates.
  • Loss Prevention & Security: Ensure store asset security through strict adherence to risk management policies, including daily bank deposits, opening and closing procedures, stock counts, and inventory management.

Essential Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:

  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the footwear or fashion industry and retail sector is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of prior retail experience in a sales-driven environment.
  • Sales & Service: Proven track record in sales and service execution.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficiency with basic software and experience using POS systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving ability with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and climb an 8-foot ladder. Ability to stand for long periods and bend as necessary.
  • Flexibility: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
