Applied Technical Services, LLC, is a leading provider of critical testing, inspection, certification, and compliance services. The company serves clients across a diverse set of large and stable end markets including manufacturing, power generation, aerospace, medical, and defense. ATS was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Marietta, GA. Today the Company employs nearly 2,100 team members in over 95 locations across the United States.

Our Calibration Department is currently seeking a Director of Dimensional Inspection to be based at the Corporate Office in Marietta, GA. This role is an exciting leadership opportunity that will involve the operational management of our dimensional inspection services while driving revenue growth for the service line.

The Director of Dimensional Inspection will lead In-Lab and On-Site Dimensional Inspection services including CMM Inspection, CT scanning, and laser scanning. Responsibilities will also include growing ATS’ on-site dimensional services, in-lab and on-site training, on-site inspection, and off-site part programming. The Director will manage team members and assets in multiple locations throughout the United States and be expected to drive growth through expanded capability and capacity in existing and emerging geographies.

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day leadership of inspection and dimensional calibration activities within the Dimensional Inspection and (CT) Computed Tomography labs with resources currently operating in Marietta, GA, Fort Wayne, IN and Corydon, IN.
  • Leverage functional expertise in metrology and dimensional inspection to expand or deepen relevant capabilities at ATS
  • Lead business development efforts for dimensional inspection services and drive revenue growth in partnership with sales and marketing teams
  • Nurture relationships with key accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction, and identifying opportunities for revenue generation
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and monitor the competitive landscape to inform strategy and make adjustments accordingly
  • Actively collaborate with calibration and corporate leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives
  • Hire, train, and support talent for a growing team across multiple locations
  • Assist in customer correspondence and quoting
  • Create and maintain a schedule of work for a team of technicians/engineers
  • Maintain accountability for the highest personal, professional, and safety standards
  • Maintain department owned assets per Company’s Quality Policy
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, materials) or equivalent industry experience
  • 10+ years of experience leading calibration services, metrology, and/or a dimensional inspection department or function
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of metrology software such as PC-DMIS, Volume Graphics, and Polyworks
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of CT, CMM, and laser scanning operation
  • Previous responsibility for revenue generation or experience with business development activities
  • Ability to lead a team with experience growing, training, and coaching a team
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and team members
  • Customer-centric and entrepreneurial minded with the ability to develop relationships with clients/key accounts

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to work 40 hours (and overtime as needed) to meet customer demands and schedules
  • Ability and willingness to fly and/or drive to client sites, tradeshows, or other company sponsored events up to 40%
  • Access to personal cell phone with data plan for connection to company email and multi-factor authentication
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check and drug screening
