Description


The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the successful management of projects focused on leveraging technology in manufacturing companies to automate and transform business processes, improve visibility, enable the workforce, and improve operational agility, quality, and productivity. They are considered the owners of the project and are expected to procure and manage the resources (funding, time, materials, personnel, and expertise) necessary to deliver successful projects.


This position operates under a hybrid work model based out of our Smyrna, TN office. The role requires a regular, routine onsite presence for face-to-face collaboration, team meetings, and hands-on projects, combined with the flexibility of partial remote work. Additionally this position requires up to 10% travel to client sites regionally and throughout the continental US. 


Responsibilities

  • Manages target volume of projects annually, as defined by organizational performance metrics
  • Maintains target funding level as defined by organizational performance metrics
  • Accountable and responsible for the successful management of projects from kickoff to closing
  • Manages project scope, schedule, budget, quality, resources, communications, risk, procurement, management of change and stakeholders to deliver a complete and successful project
  • Works with leadership team to optimize project resourcing, assist in resource forecasting, and to minimize unfunded time of team members
  • Supports employee development through the assignment of project activities that contribute to employee goals
  • Ensures compliance with project management policies and procedures by consistently applying project management methodology through each phase of the project including initiating, planning, design & development, testing, implementation, and closing
  • Recognizes and prospects for new business opportunities with existing customers and supports the Business Development team in the development of proposals
  • Serves as primary point of contact with customers for the project and fosters customer relationships
  • Addresses client concerns on an on-going basis; anticipates, diffuses, and resolves issues before they become client problems. Recognizes commercial issues and escalates to management as needed 
  • Participates in annual reviews, goal reviews, and continuous improvement feedback processes for managed resources
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement activities within the organization, mainly focused on but not limited to project management tools and processes
  • Up to 10% domestic travel

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Management, or Engineering from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing projects
  • Thorough understanding of project management principles and planning
  • Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-up
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sufficient technical knowledge to enable clear understanding and efficient communication between technical engineers and customer stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead through others and influence outside of direct reporting lines
  • Willingness to work beyond core business hours when necessary to minimize business interruption during planned or unplanned system modifications
  • Successful completion of drug screen and background check

Nice to have

  • Formal project management training such as PMP, PMI-ACP, or training provided by company
  • Experience with customer requirements and specification development
  • Experience in software design and development coordination
  • Experience with MES, MOM, or manufacturing applications and/or projects
  • Expertise in UI/UX design and familiarity with development and implementation cycles

Work Schedule 


Must be able to work extended hours when needed and able to work at night or non-traditional shifts as needed. 


Must be available to work on Saturday and Sunday as needed.
