The Opportunity

As ourSystem Development Manager & Technology Leader, you'll provide both technical and people leadership while helping shape the future of software development at Advantage DataSystems.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six software developers.
  • Report directly to the IT Director and work closely with leadership across the organization.
  • Manage the software development roadmap, priorities, and delivery commitments.
  • Partner with business leaders to translate operational needs into practical technology solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership on application architecture, systems integration, databases, and development standards.
  • Improve software quality by strengthening development processes, testing, documentation, and release management.
  • Balance new development, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring priorities remain aligned with business needs.
  • Lead the resolution of production issues by supporting root-cause analysis and driving continuous improvements to system reliability.
  • Communicate project status, priorities, risks, and recommendations clearly to leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Identify practical opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and data to improve business performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years leading software development teams.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, support, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven experience delivering business-critical applications, enterprise systems, or other operational software solutions.
  • Experience managing multiple technology priorities while consistently delivering results.
  • Strong technical judgment, including the ability to evaluate designs, assess risks, balance trade-offs, and guide maintainable solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching technical teams and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with business leaders, operations teams, IT staff, vendors, and end users.


Technical Leadership Experience

The successful candidate will have experience leading the design, development, and delivery of enterprise business applications within a Microsoft technology environment. Experience with many of the following is considered an asset:

  • Enterprise business applications
  • Reporting and data platforms
