Job description

Leidos has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to support NASA’s Commercial Low Earth Orbit Destinations (CLD) Program. This position will lead projects focused on the development, integration, and certification of life support and multi-disciplinary spaceflight systems, supporting current and future human spaceflight missions.

The successful candidate will manage projects across a range of technical areas including Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS), compressed gases, electrical systems, software, and integrated hardware solutions. This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient system performance for long‑duration human spaceflight missions. The position is located onsite in Webster, Texas, and requires collaboration with NASA stakeholders, commercial partners, and cross‑functional engineering teams.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end project lifecycle management including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of aerospace and life support system projects
  • Manage development, integration, and certification of spaceflight hardware and software systems
  • Develop and maintain resource‑loaded schedules, cost estimates, and Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
  • Coordinate across multi‑disciplinary teams including ECLSS, mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineering
  • Interface with external customers and stakeholders to ensure alignment with mission requirements and program objectives
  • Support design reviews, technical reviews, and program milestone reviews
  • Manage risks, issues, and change control processes across projects
  • Ensure compliance with NASA processes for requirements, verification, safety, quality, and configuration management
  • Review and approve technical documentation, including work orders, test plans, and engineering products
  • Provide regular status reporting on cost, schedule, and technical performance to internal and external stakeholders
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of project management experience in aerospace, space systems, or related technical programs
  • Demonstrated experience managing NASA or human spaceflight‑related projects
  • Experience managing complex hardware and/or integrated system development projects
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost management, and risk management
  • Experience working in a matrixed, multi‑disciplinary engineering environment
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience with ECLSS (Environmental Control and Life Support Systems) or other human life support technologies
  • Experience supporting NASA CLD, ISS, Artemis, Gateway, or related programs
  • Knowledge of compressed gas systems, environmental systems, or crew systems
  • Experience with NASA human-rated hardware development and certification processes
  • Familiarity with tools such as MS Project, Earned Value Management (EVM), and configuration management systems
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management certification
  • Experience presenting to NASA technical boards and program reviews
