Job description

Job Description

Responsibilities 

 Responsible for overall architecture for our back end system

Works closely with the Director of Big Data in helping to design, develop, test and maintain back end systems

Provide unit tests for these software applications

Participate in multi-disciplinary projects

Work with analysts creating cutting edge data mining algorithms

Contribute to our team's growing set of development platforms, tools, and processes

Qualifications 

Experience with enterprise level data architecture

Prior experience in Hadoop / MapReduce / Cascading / Hive / HDFS

Strong Java skills

 Experience with large database interactions (Postgres is desired)

 Experience with highly scalable systems

Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly

Excellent problem-solving abilities

 Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

 Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment

 Excellent verbal and communication skills

Experience with Impala or Spark is a plus

Experience with web crawling and content indexing is a plus

Experience with Python and R is a plus

Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus


Qualifications

Requirements

Ability to work well in a flexible, dynamic small-team working environment

BS in Computer Science or other technical discipline (with significant computer coursework)

10+ years of professional software experience

Strong math and statistical background

Experience developing applications in Java and utilizing Java platform technologies

Experience development under and managing Linux systems
