Position Summary:

Kognitiv Edge is seeking aData Engineer IIIto lead the design, development, and evolution of the enterprise data infrastructure that powersour humanperformance platforms. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer capable of architecting scalable data solutions, leading complex integration efforts, andestablishingthe data foundations required for advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and enterprise decision-making.


In this role, you will work across multiple programs and stakeholders to develop data architectures, implement governance frameworks,optimizedata pipelines, and enable trusted, reusable data assets. You will serve as a technical leader within the engineering organization while partnering closely with software engineers, product leaders, and mission stakeholders.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring others, and building systems thatoperateat enterprise scale.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, andmaintainscalable enterprise data architectures, pipelines, and integration frameworks.
  • Lead the ingestion, transformation, validation, and operationalization of data from mission systems, wearable technologies, research environments, enterprise applications, and external partners.
  • Architect andoptimizedata models, schemas, storage solutions, and data lifecycle management strategies.
  • Establish and enforce data governance standards, including metadata management, lineage tracking, auditability, and data quality controls.
  • Design and implement monitoring, observability, and operational support capabilities to ensure platform reliability and performance.
  • Partner with software engineers, product leaders, and stakeholders to translate operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Enable advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence initiatives through trusted and reusable data foundations.
  • Evaluate and implement modern data engineering technologies, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and strategic planning efforts across programs.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth and maturity of the engineering organization.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, privacy, and governance requirements within regulated government environments.
  • Continuously improve platform scalability, performance, maintainability, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, analytics engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Expertproficiencyin Python and SQL.
  • Demonstrated experience designing andmaintainingproduction-scale data pipelines and data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, ETL/ELT design patterns, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience working within cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience designing secure, scalable, andhighly availabledata systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to obtain andmaintaina U.S. Government security clearance.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Event Grid, or similar cloud-native data platforms.
  • Experience designing data governance, master data management, and enterprise data management solutions.
  • Experience supporting machine learning, predictive analytics, or AI-enabled systems.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, Infrastructure as Code, and modern DevOps practices.
