Job description

Job Title: Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Operator (2nd Shift)

Location: Carrollton, Texas
Department: Quality Control
Reports To: Quality Inspection Lead / Quality Assurance Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented CMM Operator to join our Quality Inspection team. The CMM Operator is responsible for inspecting aerospace bare printed circuit boards using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other inspection equipment to ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, computer proficiency, and the ability to learn and apply complex technical concepts.

Initial training will be conducted on 1st shift. Upon successful completion of the training period, the employee will transition to 2nd shift. (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections of aerospace bare printed circuit boards using CMM equipment.
  • Set up and operate CMMs to verify product conformance to engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry standards.
  • Review engineering drawings, customer requirements, and inspection criteria.
  • Generate and maintain inspection reports and supporting documentation.
  • Identify and document non-conforming material and communicate findings to production and quality personnel.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
  • Assist with first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections.
  • Maintain calibration status and proper care of inspection equipment.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to quality issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality procedures, aerospace requirements, and safety standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and work instructions.
  • Ability to perform accurate and repeatable work in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical concepts.

Preferred

  • Manufacturing or quality inspection experience.
  • Experience operating CMM equipment.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Proficiency with common inspection tools and measuring equipment.
  • Experience with Micro-Vu InSpec software.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Experience performing First Article Inspections to AS9102 requirements.
  • Technical degree or quality-related certification.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Coursework or experience in mathematics, engineering, electronics, machining, manufacturing, CAD, or other technical disciplines.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a manufacturing environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to inspect precision components and review technical documentation.
