Job description

About Northern Trust

As a global leader in innovative wealth management, asset servicing, asset management and banking services, Northern Trust (Nasdaq: NTRS) is proud to guide the world's most successful individuals, families, corporations and institutions.

Since 1889, we have aligned our efforts with our three guiding Principles That Endure: Service, Expertise, and Integrity. Together, they reflect the three cornerstones of business conduct which we strive to instill in our employees, whom we call partners, and to provide to our clients and the communities we serve worldwide.

With more than 135 years of financial experience and over 24,000 partners, we serve the world's most sophisticated clients using leading technology and exceptional service.

The Senior Digital Content and Multimedia Strategist will help Northern Trust Asset Management evolve from a written- and PDF-centric content model to a digital-first, multiformat content and insights system. The role will turn editorial strategies, investment expertise and approved source material into compelling web, video, infographic, audio, presentation and interactive experiences that improve reach, relevance, reuse and performance.

This strategist will combine editorial judgment, digital-content strategy, multimedia storytelling, project management and an AI-enabled production mindset. The role will serve as the content-side owner of digital and multimedia experiences, helping determine the best format for each priority idea and preparing stronger inputs for Digital, Design, Multimedia, Marketing Operations, Campaign Marketing, Product Marketing, Client Marketing and Compliance.

The role will support our longer-term ambition to make our expertise more individualized, discoverable and useful throughout the client decision journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Digital publishing and content operations: Plan content for web behavior and audience journeys from the start. Develop page structures, modules, headlines, summaries, calls to action, related-content paths and publication-ready packages. Coordinate briefs, owners, inputs, dependencies, reviews and publication dates through Workfront or other approved tools. Maintain metadata, taxonomy, accessibility inputs, version control and refresh, expiration and retirement requirements.
  • Multimedia and visual storytelling: Recommend the right mix of articles, video, infographics, interactive charts, webinars, podcasts, presentations and social content. Develop concepts, creative briefs, scripts, interview questions, storyboards and production plans, and coordinate lightweight rapid-turn content using approved tools and templates.
  • Content adaptation and activation: Transform long-form research, presentations, webinars, charts and expert interviews into audience- and channel-specific experiences. Build modular content that can be reused across institutional, intermediary and other priority audience journeys without weakening the original investment thinking.
  • AI and content innovation: Help design, test and govern AI-assisted workflows that turn approved source material into web-ready and multiformat content. Use approved tools for first-pass metadata, summaries, headlines, page modules, scripts, derivative concepts, transcription, video clipping and publishing packages while maintaining source grounding and human review.
  • Investment, product and audience fluency: Build working knowledge of investment capabilities, products and priority audiences. Partner with institutional, intermediary and product-area writers to translate complex ideas into clear digital experiences without oversimplifying the substance.
  • Compliance, brand and accessibility: Navigate Compliance and Legal review with rigorous source support, disclosures and version control. Uphold house voice, editorial standards, brand requirements, accessibility and digital-content standards, and ensure AI-assisted outputs receive appropriate human review.
  • Measurement and continuous improvement: Monitor performance across web, video, visual, audio and interactive formats. Recommend tests involving headlines, formats, calls to action, page structures and packaging, and use performance, Sales and stakeholder feedback to improve future briefs and investment decisions.
Required Qualifications
  • 8-10+ years of experience in digital content strategy, digital publishing, multimedia production or a related field; financial-services or other regulated-industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Portfolio or work samples showing strong digital storytelling across several formats, such as web, video, infographics, presentations, podcasts, webinars or interactive experiences.
  • Strong editorial judgment and demonstrated ability to translate complex financial, investment or business concepts into clear, engaging content without losing substance.
  • Working knowledge of content management systems, digital asset management, workflow platforms, analytics tools and marketing automation environments.
  • Experience working across Digital, Design, Multimedia, Marketing Operations and Compliance, with strong project-management skills and comfort managing multiple stakeholders, dependencies and deadlines.
  • Practical experience using approved artificial intelligence tools in content workflows, including source validation, human review, governance and risk controls.
  • Ability to interpret digital and content-performance data and turn findings into practical recommendations.
Preferred Experience
  • Hands-on experience with lightweight video capture and editing, visual-content tools, webinar repurposing, presentation development or infographic production.
  • Familiarity with search optimization, structured and modular content, AI discoverability, digital accessibility and content taxonomy.
  • Experience supporting investment, market, advisor, client or product content across different audience needs and stages of the decision journey.
Core Competencies
  • Digital Content Strategy: Designs content for web behavior, audience journeys, discoverability, engagement and reuse.
  • Multiformat Storytelling: Selects and develops the right combination of written, visual, video, audio, presentation and interactive formats.
  • Editorial Excellence: Protects clarity, accuracy, audience value and the original meaning of expert content.
  • AI Fluency and Innovation: Applies artificial intelligence to real workflows while maintaining governance, source integrity and human accountability.
  • Content Operations: Builds repeatable processes, briefs, templates, standards and publication-ready packages.
  • Performance Mindset: Uses evidence to improve formats, experiences, reuse and content investment decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Works effectively across Content, Digital, Design, Multimedia, Product, Client, Campaign, Operations and Compliance.
  • Ownership: Is proactive, organized and accountable from concept through publication, maintenance and optimization.
Role Impact

Success will be reflected in stronger digital and multimedia experiences, more efficient publication, greater reuse of approved thinking and improved audience engagement. The role will help our people stay focused on judgment, originality and accountability while artificial intelligence and repeatable workflows support routine adaptation and production.
