Job description

 Job Summary                                                                                                                                                                                          

Moon Valley Nurseries is seeking a strategic, self-directed Digital Marketing & Content Specialist to own content strategy and be the digital voice of the brand across our owned digital channels (email, sms, website, and blog). In addition, this role will lead social community management, local listings, and key vendor relationships that support these channels. This role sets the day-to-day content agenda within MVN's brand guidelines, translating strategy into a consistent, elevated voice across every consumer touchpoint from awareness through retention. 

Work Location: This is a full-time, in-person position based at Moon Valley Nurseries' Corporate Office in Scottsdale, Arizona. Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of this role to support collaboration with cross-functional teams and business operations. At this time, remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available for this position.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                                                             
Content Strategy & Execution 
  • Own the content strategy, editorial calendar, and content plan across email, website, and blog channels, aligning with brand priorities and seasonal business cycles 
  • Write content across these channels and partner with the internal creative team to develop supporting visual design 
  • Determine content priorities and messaging approach based on performance data, customer behavior, and platform trends, exercising independent judgment on content decisions within established brand guidelines 
  • Write weekly SEO-focused blog content (plant care, seasonal tips, product/service highlights) 
  • Write landing page copy for campaigns, promotions, and seasonal initiatives 
  • Analyze content performance (engagement, audience growth, reach, conversion) and adjust strategy accordingly 
  • Serve as the internal point of contact for our SEO agency, managing and collaborating with them to ensure SEO aligns with broader digital marketing goals, increasing organic traffic and achieving online presence objectives 
Email & SMS Marketing 
  • Develop, write, schedule, and deploy email and SMS campaigns 
  • Own content for automated customer journeys and ongoing lifecycle communications, in partnership with the Lifecycle Marketing Manager 
  • Monitor performance (open rate, click-through rate, engagement) and run A/B tests, applying independent judgment to refine approach and messaging 
  • Ensure all email/SMS content aligns with MVN brand voice and style standards 
Community Management 
  • Manage day-to-day social media engagement using Sprout Social; serve as internal owner of the Sprout Social platform relationship 
  • Exercise final discretion in responding to customer comments, questions, and reviews across digital channels. Determine tone and resolution, escalating only where appropriate 
  • Interact with followers to build brand presence and engagement 
  • Identify recurring themes in customer feedback and use judgment to surface insights that could inform marketing, product, or customer experience improvements 
Local Listings & Reputation Management 
  • Exercise discretion in managing local business listing profiles (Google Business Profile and similar) across all MVN locations, determining update priority and cadence 
  • Serve as primary point of contact and relationship owner for MVN's local listings management vendor 
  • Own the Yelp partner relationship, including developing budget recommendations 
  • Track and report Yelp/Google review performance by location to support sales programs 
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities                                                                                                                   
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or a related field, or equivalent experience 
  • 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing or content marketing, ideally with a consumer-facing or multi-location brand 
  • Proficiency with Sprout Social, HubSpot, Google Analytics, and local listings management platforms strongly preferred 
  • Strong writing skills with demonstrated ability to adapt tone and voice across channels; writing samples may be requested 
  • Experience managing vendor relationships preferred

Bachelor’s degree— or equivalent work experience.

 Physical requirements/Working Conditions                                                                                                                                   

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 15 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
