S&ME seeks a motivated and passionate Senior Construction Materials Engineer to join our Construction Services team in Lexington, Kentucky.
As a Senior Construction Materials Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in executing medium to large Construction Materials Testing, Special Inspections, and Geotechnical projects, ensuring the highest level of quality and compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with clients, project teams, and laboratory staff to deliver successful projects while upholding our commitment to excellence.
Your Day-to-Day:
  • Project Management: Lead and manage dynamic Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections projects of varying scales, overseeing every phase, including budget allocations, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Client Engagement: Engaging closely with clients to grasp their unique project needs and going the extra mile to ensure their utmost satisfaction.
  • Revenue Growth and Networking: Cultivating a robust local client base and expanding your professional network to drive revenue growth that aligns with our ambitious financial goals.
  • Development Leadership: Taking the lead in local and regional business development endeavors, amplifying our presence through strategic marketing efforts.
  • Proposals and Reports: Reviewing and crafting proposals and reports of all sizes and complexity tailored to project specifications, industry standards, and client preferences.
  • Mentorship: Nurturing and guiding a team of skilled professionals, project managers, and field-based personnel, fostering their growth.

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 10+ years of experience in Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections
  • 8+ years of experience in a project manager role
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards and procedures, IBC Special Inspections, and geotechnical recommendations
