Job description

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

The purpose of the Warehouse Shift Manager is to manage the daily operations of the day or night warehouse shift in accordance with company policies and supplier equity agreement guidelines.  This position's primary duty is to manage the warehouse during his/her shift and supervise more than 2 full-time employees. Other duties of this position include, among other things, assisting the Warehouse Manager, processing inbound/outbound products transfers, managing product rotation in the warehouse, and maintaining the cleanliness of the warehouse.  This position is also required to provide relief duties to fellow shift managers or inventory control.

•    Act as a mentor by coaching team; communicate best practices
•    Operate all company equipment safely and in a manner consistent with company policy
•    Perform other duties as assigned
•    Project a friendly, professional image at all times
•    Attend meetings as required
•    Prioritize multiple, competing priorities 
•    Monitor and follow up on any issues needing corrective action
•    Assess performance of direct reports against established benchmarks and provide feedback.
•    Consistently demonstrate and model good management and self-management practices in support of Ben E. Keith culture
•    Ensure that the BEK administrative requirements are performed accurately and in a timely manner
•    Ensure team members adhere to all company policies and procedures
•    Screen, interview, and hire applicants as needed
•    Conduct regular field-based supervision of employee assignments and tasks
•    Train and certify direct reports on the use of company vehicles and other facility equipment
•    Ensure all vehicles are being maintained in a safe, operational condition; oversee the completeness and accuracy of documentation wherever necessary
•    Ensure company equipment is in safe, working condition; reports any incidents or unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

•    All applicants hired by Ben E. Keith Beverages are required by the State of Texas to obtain two TABC licenses
•    Excellent performance in previous BEK career path positions
•    Must have the ability to lead others and obtain desired results through motivation, communication, and leading by example
•    Working knowledge of warehousing strategies and concepts
•    Ability to learn and use relevant internal computer applications
•    Working knowledge of route accounting software preferred
•    Basic computer skills preferred
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) preferred
•    Ability to use 10-key by touch preferred
•    Prior forklift experience preferred
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
•    Able to coordinate multiple activities and follow through with commitments
•    Good oral and written communication skills and participate well in a team environment
•    Must be highly motivated and results oriented, with a strong attention to detail

•    Must be organized with the ability to handle multiple priorities
•    Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
•    Must be able to read and write English
•    Must be 18 yrs. or older to apply
•    Ability to move products weighing up to 165 lbs., stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear
•    High school graduate or GED required
•    Bachelor's degree or its equivalent preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:

•    Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
•    Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
•    Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
