We are currently looking for a Logistics Commercial Development Director to join our West Des Moines Office! The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Logistics-Brokerage Business Development with proven Sales Experience across all types/modes of transportation. The Logistics Commercial Development Director plays a pivotal role in driving the growth and expansion of the company by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities. This strategic leader is responsible for developing and executing innovative strategies to acquire new clients, penetrate new markets, and maximize revenue generation. The Logistics Commercial Development Director collaborates closely with senior management, sales teams, and other key stakeholders to achieve business objectives and drive sustainable growth.
A day in the life of a Logistics Commercial Development Director looks like:
  • Strategic Planning: Developing comprehensive new business development strategies aligned with the company's overall objectives and market dynamics.
  • Market Research: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, market opportunities, and potential target segments.
  • Lead Generation: Generate leads and identify potential clients through various channels, including networking, prospecting, cold calling, and leveraging industry contacts.
  • Client Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with prospective clients, understanding their needs, challenges, and objectives to tailor solutions that address their requirements effectively.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches tailored to the needs of perspective clients, highlighting the company's value proposition, capabilities, and competitive advantages.
  • Negotiations and closing: Lead negotiations with prospective clients, negotiating terms and contracts to secure new business partnerships and agreements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including other sales associates, marketing, pricing and operations, to ensure alignment of new business initiatives with organizational capabilities and resources.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIS) related to new business development efforts, tracking progress against targets and identifying areas of improvement.

  • Industry Networking: Build and maintain a strong professional network within the industry trends and developments.
  • Must be willing to travel to our Fort Dodge Headquarters and Customer sites on an as-needed basis

Logistics Commercial Development Director Must Haves
  • Brokerage office leadership experience
  • Proven strategic logistics / brokerage experience
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Strong proven dedicated sales experience with confirmable close success rates
  • 4 year degree in a business field preferred
  • Expert knowledge of the internet and Microsoft Office software
  • Logistics experience/knowledge of trucking industry
  • 3-5 years job related experience required
