Job description

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking an Imagery Scientist with knowledge of imagery evaluations, image quality studies, new product/sensor initializations, product algorithm assessments, and the development of image quality equations (IQEs).  Candidates should possess experience in full image processing and digital signal processing. Candidate should possess a high level of knowledge of image chain analysis to include atmospheric modeling, signal quality and noise, optics, detector calibration, and image processing of pixel data to display radiometrically correct values.   

Responsibilities:

  • Reports to a manager or head of a unit/department on a weekly basis.
  • Understanding of imagery scientist processes and procedures for the team.
  • Contribution to team structure and cadence.
  • Providing metrics, reports, and presentations as requested by the government lead and PM 
  • Work to improve efficiency with team processes
  • Contribute to team discussions and recommend improvements. 
  • Guides and supports junior level personnel
  • Conduct root cause problem analysis and develop technical solutions to problems

Key Technologies:

  •  Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Familiarity with current GEOINT systems, products and development, as well as exploitation software packages such as all ELTs, AGITK, and other software plug-ins or applications necessary to develop test and verification methodologies.
  • Knowledge of PAN, IR, MSI/HSI, RADAR, and LIDAR on both space or airborne platforms. 
  • Jira, Miro, Collaboration tools
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Understanding services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, Kubernetes Services)
  • DevSecOps & Automation
  • Understanding of GitLab CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) and Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Agile, DevSecOps, & Development Lifecycle Tools
  • SonarQube, Nexus, etc. for code and dependency scanning 

 Required Qualifications:

  • An active TS/SCI clearance (eligible for CI Poly)
  • Bachelor's degree in Imaging Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics or related STEM field.   
  • 4-7 years of experience
  • Ability to develop and use more complex concepts and processes
  • Working knowledge and practical application of modeling components of the image creation path to include sensor, detector, atmospheric, and material properties.
  • Simulation and modeling experience.
  • Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle to include independent testing and data verification.
  • Ability to develop algorithm description documentation for software development.
  • Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
  • Works generally independent and collaborative in nature 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of secure coding best practices and compliance standards (NIST, FedRAMP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with modern software development practices
  • Experience with navigating organizational security processes.
  • Experience developing and delivering contract deliverables
