SUMMARY OF JOB
Responsible for overseeing the quality systems supporting chemical process control, laboratory operations, calibration programs, and periodic process testing throughout the facility. This role serves as the technical owner for laboratory and testing equipment, ensuring measurement systems remain accurate, compliant, and capable of supporting production requirements. The Chemical Systems Quality Engineer leads continuous improvement of laboratory quality systems, investigates technical issues and deviations, and partners with Operations, Process Engineering, and Quality to maintain robust chemical control and testing processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Owns the quality systems supporting chemical process control, laboratory operations, calibration programs, and periodic process testing.
  • Serves as the primary technical resource for laboratory and process testing equipment, providing troubleshooting, qualification, and technical support.
  • Investigates quality issues, deviations, and out-of-tolerance conditions, determining appropriate disposition and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develops, maintains, and improves laboratory procedures, quality systems, and technical documentation.
  • Plans and manages calibration, certification, and periodic testing programs to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Maintains laboratory inventory systems to ensure critical testing equipment, standards, reference materials, and consumables are available to support production.
  • Analyzes laboratory and quality system performance using metrics and data to identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions.
  • Partners with Operations, Process Engineering, Quality, and external service providers to implement new equipment, improve testing systems, and support production.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • A strong background in chemistry and process control is the primary requirement for this role.
  • 4 year technical degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field required.
  • Experience with analytical testing, calibration systems, quality systems, or industrial process control preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial chemical environment preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and drive continuous improvement preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
