Job description

Cochrane Toyota is looking for a driven, competitive and highly motivated sales professional to join our Service Department as a Service Business Development Representative.
This is not a traditional receptionist or call center position.

We are looking for someone who enjoys selling, prospecting, following up and creating opportunities. The right person is comfortable picking up the phone, starting conversations, overcoming objections, problem-solving, and consistently working toward measurable goals.

If you have experience in outside sales, inside sales, account management, business development, automotive sales, service or another performance-driven sales environment, this could be an excellent opportunity to apply those skills in a fast-paced automotive service operation.

What You’ll Do

Your primary responsibility is to create service opportunities and turn customer contacts into booked appointments. We can teach automotive service processes. We are looking for someone who already understands how to pursue an opportunity.

You will:

  • Proactively contact customers by phone, text and digital channels.
  • Follow up with customers who are due or overdue for maintenance.
  • Work service opportunities generated through Toyota Connected Services and other customer databases.
  • Respond quickly to incoming service inquiries and online appointment requests.
  • Identify customer needs and confidently recommend the appropriate service appointment.
  • Book accurate and complete service appointments.
  • Follow up on customers who have not yet committed to an appointment.
  • Re-engage inactive and lapsed service customers.
  • Help maximize available shop capacity by actively filling open appointment opportunities.
  • Maintain a strong appointment show rate through effective communication and follow-up.
  • Build relationships with customers and give them a reason to continue servicing with Cochrane Toyota.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer conversations, follow-up activity and appointments.
  • Complete appointment preparation requirements before the customer arrives.
  • Work closely with Service Advisors and Service Management to identify opportunities and priorities.

The Right Person

You are likely a strong fit if you:

  • Are naturally competitive and motivated by achieving goals.
  • Enjoy being measured on your results.
  • Are comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls.
  • Do not wait for opportunities to come to you.
  • Know how to build rapport quickly.
  • Are comfortable asking for the appointment.
  • Can handle objections and keep a conversation moving forward.
  • Follow up consistently until you get an answer.
  • Take ownership of your pipeline and results.
  • Enjoy working toward daily, weekly and monthly targets.
  • Are organized enough to manage a large number of customers and follow-ups.
  • Can balance sales ability with a professional customer experience.
  • Work well independently but understand that your results contribute to the success of the entire team.
  • Bring energy and urgency to your work every day.

Schedule

This is a full-time position working five days per week. The BDC team participates in the Service Department's Saturday rotation, with a weekday off provided when scheduled to work Saturday.
What You’ll Bring

  • 1–2 years of experience in sales, business development, account management, automotive service sales or a dealership BDC environment.
  • A strong sales mindset with the drive to prospect, follow up and consistently work toward measurable goals.
  • Confidence making outbound calls, starting conversations and asking for the appointment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, both over the phone and in person.
  • The ability to handle objections professionally and stay persistent through the sales process.
  • Strong organization and follow-up habits, with the ability to manage a high volume of customer opportunities.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
  • Experience using CRM software, customer databases or other sales/business development tools.
  • Automotive dealership experience is considered an asset, but strong sales experience and the right drive are more important.
  • A willingness to learn automotive service processes, terminology and Toyota maintenance requirements.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

Career Advancement:

This role is a launching pad for your career in the automotive industry. With dedication and performance, you can advance to positions such as:

  • Service Advisor: Use your understanding of service operations to provide exceptional guidance to customers regarding their vehicle maintenance and repair needs.

What We'll Bring:

  • A work environment built on teamwork, flexibility and respect.
  • Continuous on-the-job training in the latest automotive technologies
  • RRSP matching and Deferred Profit Sharing.
  • Health and Dental Benefits Package
  • Paid Time Off
  • Great company culture
