Primary Job Responsibilities:  

  1. Build and mature the stroke program, including governance, protocols, policies, staffing plans, education, and Primary Stroke Center certification readiness.
  2. Coordinate the full stroke system of care across EMS, Emergency Medicine, Neurology, Nursing, Radiology, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Rehabilitation, Quality, Transfer Center, and tele stroke partners.
  3. Own stroke data, registry integrity, dashboards, case reviews, performance-improvement plans, regulatory submissions, and sustained compliance with evidence-based standards.
  4. Lead stroke committee activities, mock stroke codes, staff competency, provider education, and community outreach.
  5. Design and standardize neurology operations across inpatient consults and ambulatory practice, including referrals, scheduling, rooming, subspecialty triage, diagnostics, critical-result communication, and follow-up.
  6. Improve access, throughput, staff accountability, patient navigation, patient experience, and continuity of care while reducing delays and operational gaps.
  7. Partner with clinical and administrative leadership on service-line growth provider onboarding, staffing, budgets, technology/EMR workflows, marketing, and referral development.
  8. Translate performance data and frontline feedback into clear priorities, accountable action plans, and executive updates.

Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:

  1. Knowledge of stroke program standards, Primary Stroke Center certification requirements, and evidence-based stroke care guidelines.
  2. Knowledge of stroke quality measures, registries, regulatory requirements, and healthcare performance improvement methodologies.
  3. Knowledge of hospital operations, ambulatory neurology workflows, care coordination, and multidisciplinary clinical services.
  4. Knowledge of electronic medical records, data reporting tools, and healthcare quality dashboards.

Skills:

  1. Skill in developing, implementing, and managing stroke program initiatives and operational workflows.
  2. Skill in analyzing clinical and operational performance data and developing improvement plans.
  3. Skill in leading multidisciplinary committees, education programs, and accreditation readiness activities.
  4. Skill in project management, stakeholder engagement, and change management.
  5. Skill in preparing executive reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions.

Abilities:

  1. Ability to lead organizational initiatives that improve patient outcomes, quality, access, and operational efficiency.
  2. Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing leadership, administrators, and community partners.
  3. Ability to identify barriers, implement solutions, and sustain performance improvements.
  4. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of staff and leadership.
  5. Ability to competently use Microsoft Office applications, EMR systems, quality databases, and reporting tools.

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), Master of Public Health (MPH), or related advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in stroke care, neuroscience, emergency services, critical care, healthcare quality, or healthcare operations required; five (5) years preferred.

Demonstrated experience building, expanding, or leading a stroke program and preparing for stroke-center certification/accreditation required.

Experience in multidisciplinary clinical operations, performance improvement, and service-line development preferred.

Position Requirements:

Current New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) certification required (can be obtained within 24 months of hire)

Salary commensurate with experience: 

$120,000-$143,000/Year
