Description
Mechanical Design Engineers are responsible for designing custom weld fixtures and/or machines; interacting with customers while managing large and small programs as well as supporting the onsite fabrication and assembly. Mechanical Design Engineers work in a team environment designed to help New Employees become productive quickly.
Duties
  • Design weld fixtures and/or machines using Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.
  • Work with Controls Engineering on the design of the controls systems.
  • Support manufacturing during the fabrication and assembly process.
  • Support onsite runoff of equipment with customers.
  • Assist with the creation of shipping and manual documentation.
  • Troubleshoot issues on or offsite throughout the life of the design.
  • Assist application engineering with new opportunities.
  • Actively participate in department and companywide continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
  • 7-10 years of experience in a mechanical design engineering role
  • Proficient with 3D CAD software. (AutoDesk Inventor and Vault is a plus)
  • Creative in conceptualizing new machine and fixture designs.
  • Ability to deal with change and meet aggressive deadlines in a fast paced work environment.
  • Proficient at project management including strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Supportive of internal and external customers' needs.
  • Ability to communicate well with customers, team members, management, etc.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally travel.
  • Adaptable and self-motivated learner.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T.
  • Familiar with Safety Codes, ANSI B11, OSHA, and Industry Accepted Guarding practices, etc. is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of GMA Welding is a plus.
