The Java Engineering Lead is a senior management-level position responsible for the strategic design, hands-on development, and successful delivery of a next-generation, cloud-native cash management platform supporting the Markets Business. This role blends deep technical proficiency in Java and React with strong people leadership, requiring a hands-on engineering manager who can both write production-quality code and develop high-performing global engineering teams. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of driving technical excellence within Agile frameworks, delivering complex technology solutions at scale, and coaching engineers to reach their full potential.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a results-oriented engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and people development. Responsibilities: Lead the strategic design and hands-on development of a cloud-native cash management platform, ensuring delivery of high-quality, scalable, and resilient solutions. Manage multiple engineering teams across global locations, conducting personnel duties including performance evaluations, hiring decisions, and disciplinary actions.

Coach, mentor, and develop engineers to drive technical excellence and foster a collaborative, results-oriented team culture. Provide strategic influence over resources, budget management, and planning while monitoring outcomes and end results. Integrate deep knowledge of Java application development within the broader technology function to achieve established organizational goals.

Define and enforce engineering standards and essential procedures, contributing to the continuous improvement of development practices. Apply sound evaluative judgment in complex, dynamic situations by drawing on both internal expertise and external sources. Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across business, operations, and technology functions, and communicate effectively with external parties as necessary.

Assess and manage risk in alignment with firm policy, driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations with transparency and ethical judgment. Supervise team activity, establish clear accountability, and escalate control issues appropriately to safeguard the organization and its clients. Qualifications: 10+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on hands-on technical delivery and engineering leadership.

Proficiency in Java application development; experience with Angular or React for front-end development. Extensive knowledge of cloud-native technologies and modern distributed systems architecture. Demonstrated experience managing global engineering teams and delivering complex technology solutions in large-scale environments.

Strong understanding of Agile ways of working, with the ability to drive delivery within iterative development frameworks. Proven ability to coach and mentor engineers, building high-performing teams with a culture of technical excellence. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with senior stakeholders across business, operations, and technology.

Working knowledge of industry practices, engineering standards, and regulatory considerations within financial services or enterprise technology. Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.
