Job description

Per Diem Recovery Coach

Ignite Recovery  |  Per Diem  |  Flexible Schedule

The Role

Per Diem Recovery Coaches carry the same mission as our full-time RCs.
Same values. Same standards. Same commitment to member-directed recovery.
What is different is the structure. You manage your schedule. You manage your caseload. You operate with a high degree of independence — and you are expected to.
This role is built on lived experience, recovery capital, and integrity. You build agency in others because you have built it in yourself.
Who You Are

You are in sustained recovery. You have been for at least two years. You are a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach

You know what it takes. You know it is possible. You are ready to walk alongside someone else who is figuring that out — on your own schedule, without someone managing every step.
You believe:
  • Recovery is always possible.
  • Suffering is met with dignity, not judgment.
  • People, when supported, can drive their own healing.
  • Recovery strengthens through community and relationships.

Multilingual and multicultural candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
What You Do

  • Build real relationships with assigned members. Identify and build on their recovery capital.
  • Co-develop a Recovery Wellness Plan with each member based on their goals and their pathway.
  • Provide peer recovery coaching consistent with Massachusetts Recovery Coach standards and Ignite’s mission, values, and philosophy.
  • Address barriers to recovery. Be a role model. Be an advocate.
  • Conduct consistent outreach to maintain engagement.
  • Use motivational interviewing to support progress toward Wellness Plan goals.
  • Actively participate in building a recovery-oriented system of care — for the agency and for each member.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation per Ignite Recovery and payor requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with your supervisor and team. Self-directed does not mean disconnected.
What Autonomy Means Here

Per Diem RCs set their own schedules. Hours are not guaranteed — they are driven by caseload and program need.
Supervision is mandatory at least 1 time per month. That means the bar for proactive communication with the team is higher.
Autonomy as a Per Diem Recovery Coach means:
  • You own your caseload. Five actively engaged members is the minimum. Below that, you are not meeting the standard.
  • You own your documentation. Current, accurate, and thorough — always.
  • You own your outreach. Consistent contact is not optional.
  • You own your boundaries. No one is monitoring them for you.
  • You flag problems early. You do not wait to be asked.
 What You Get

You will be respected, utilized, and held accountable.
Performance-based compensation with clear, transparent standards.
  • Flexible scheduling — you set your availability.
  • Access to team-building events and agency resources.
  • Per diem status does not include full-time benefits. Hours are not guaranteed.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of sustained recovery from substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Must be Certified Addiction Recovery Coach- Copy of certificate required to apply.
  • At least 1 year experience working as a Recovery Coach.
  • Flexibility in availability is a must for your caseload.
  • Computer skills and proficient with documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, active auto insurance, and personal smartphone.
What Ignite Values Look Like in This Role

Agency: You cultivate independence, not reliance. Wellness Plans are member-directed. You encourage accountability and skill-building — in your members and in yourself.
Integrity: You protect every member’s dignity. You own your documentation, your boundaries, and your mistakes. You never compromise ethics for convenience — especially when no one is watching.
