Job description

Responsibilities
Help prepare the next generation of space operators to succeed in one of the most challenging national security environments. As a Space Operations Trainer & Instructor supporting a critical space warfighting mission, you will play a vital role in developing the operational expertise, technical proficiency, and mission readiness of personnel responsible for protecting national security space assets.
As a member of a dedicated training team, you will deliver world-class instruction and hands-on learning experiences that enable operators, intelligence professionals, and mission protection specialists to execute with confidence in a contested and rapidly evolving space domain. Your expertise will directly influence operational effectiveness by ensuring personnel across geographically dispersed operations centers are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and tactics required to support flight safety, intelligence, and mission protection missions.
Beyond instruction, you will help shape the future of operational training by developing innovative courseware, refining training programs, and supporting the integration of emerging technologies and mission capabilities. Working alongside operations, engineering, and mission leadership teams, you will serve as a trusted technical resource, helping bridge the gap between system development and operational execution.
Successful candidates are passionate educators, lifelong learners, and space mission professionals who thrive in dynamic environments and are committed to advancing warfighter readiness through continuous improvement of training, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver formal classroom instruction, mission-focused workshops, and hands-on training to personnel across all operational work centers.
  • Develop and maintain engaging training materials, courseware, lesson plans, visual aids, and instructional documentation that support mission readiness and operational excellence.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert on mission systems, workflows, data sources, system dependencies, and operational procedures.
  • Train personnel on advanced space operations tools and applications, including Systems Tool Kit (STK) and other mission-critical software platforms.
  • Develop contingency procedures and operational workarounds that support mission continuity during system degradations or outages.
  • Participate in training reviews, operational update briefings, strategic planning sessions, exercises, and mission-focused demonstrations.
  • Support system integration, testing, and capability development efforts by providing operational user feedback and training expertise.
  • Identify and communicate training gaps, procedural deficiencies, system vulnerabilities, and operational risks that could impact mission success.
  • Provide supplemental instruction, mentorship, and individualized training support to operators as mission needs evolve.
  • Maintain advanced proficiency in operational systems and continuously adapt training programs to reflect emerging threats, technologies, and mission requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, intelligence, engineering, and mission protection teams to ensure training remains aligned with current operational realities and future mission objectives.
  • Work full-time on-site at a government facility, with occasional travel (up to 15%) to support training, exercises, and mission requirements.

This position is contingent upon contract award.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 12 years w/o a degree or 10 years with AS/AA or 8 years with BS/BA or 6 years with MS/MA 4 years with PhD
  • 1+ years of experience using flight safety, orbital analysis, or mission planning tools such as ASW, SuperCombo, STK, or similar visualization and threat assessment systems.
  • 1+ year of formal instructor, trainer, or curriculum development experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with adjudicated Polygraph
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of foreign and domestic space and ground-system threat capabilities.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting space operations, flight safety, space intelligence, satellite mission planning, or related mission areas within the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or commercial space sector.
  • Advanced proficiency with Systems Tool Kit (STK), flight safety systems, orbital analysis tools, and mission planning applications.
  • Experience managing training programs, qualification standards, positional task lists, or operational certification processes within Air Force or Space Force organizations.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and instructional content development tools.
  • Experience working with military and civilian personnel across multiple organizations, disciplines, and leadership levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into effective, mission-focused training programs.

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
