Job description

Position Summary:   The Aviation Maintenance Training Manager is responsible for developing and implementing training programs for ground operations staff, including designing training materials, delivering training sessions, and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs. This role will ensure employees possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively while maintaining compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, company requirements, and industry standards. Reporting to the Director of Training and Development, the Aviation Maintenance Training Manager also leads Maintenance Training personnel, oversees maintenance publications, and supports the overall maintenance strategy by promoting workforce competence, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:                     

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to assess knowledge/skill gaps, determine training needs, and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Partner with divisional leadership to anticipate future workforce headcount and training needs by technical requirements and aligned to customer contracts.
  • Manage the development and delivery of training programs and materials related to maintenance procedures, safety protocols, equipment operation, and technical skills for ground operations staff.
  • Coordinate and manage onboarding training for new maintenance hires and ongoing, recurrent, and skills development training for existing employees.
  • Manage the delivery of training sessions in various formats, such as classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and virtual training.
  • Lead collaborative effort with other departments and subject matter experts to ensure training content is accurate, compliant, and current and aligned with operational goals, objectives, and constraints.
  • Develop assessments, feedback, and performance metrics to thoroughly evaluate training program effectiveness and make data-driven improvements.
  • Ensure completion and compliance of training records and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements and best practices in maintenance operations and integrate them into training materials.
  • Supervise and mentor Maintenance Training Instructors, developing certification and career progression plans for maintenance staff.
  • Manage training budgets, schedules, and vendor relationships where external training is required.
  • Maintain training materials used by Maintenance Training.
  • Conduct classes and satisfy the duties and responsibilities of Maintenance Training Instructor as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, training, aviation management, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in training and development
  • 5+ years of aviation maintenance experience
  • Possess A&P License
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs for adult learners
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and training software
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to manage training initiatives effectively
  • Demonstrate excellent presentation and written and verbal communication skills
  • Have a solid understanding of adult learning principles and training methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training and development experience in the aviation industry
  • Holds a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certificate
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing e-learning programs.
  • Previous supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to lead the work effort of others
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce and tailoring training programs to different learning needs
  • Possess knowledge of aviation regulations and industry standards related to ground operations
  • Ability to obtain A&P License

 

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel for training and career events as needed

 

Working Conditions

  • Monday- Friday 8 AM- 5 PM

Pay Band: $90,000 - $160,000.  Starting pay is determined by experience, qualifications, and internal equity, and typically falls between the minimum and midpoint of the pay range.
