Job description

Commercial Underwriting Training Program Manager


About the role:

The Program Manager, Commercial Underwriting Training, is responsible for managing a portfolio of learning initiatives that build core and future-ready underwriting skills across the organization. Reporting to the Global Head of Underwriting Technical Training, this role collaborates with stakeholders across functions and geographies to design, adapt, and implement scalable development solutions that align with enterprise underwriting priorities. This role requires strong project ownership, creativity in learning design, underwriting acumen and the ability to deliver experiences that drive real technical underwriting expertise.


There is no training component in this role - no prior facilitation skills required.


How you'll create an impact:

  • Manage multiple programs related to underwriting course design, structure and implementation.
  • Develop and implement learning tools in support of the rollout of new technical underwriting initiatives, systems and strategies.
  • Engage with corporate learning and development to align technical skills and professional skills with corporate underwriting strategies for comprehensive learning programs.
  • Engage with learning liaisons across multiple lines of business to help, direct and guide custom learning based on unique needs.
  • Partner with in-house and contract instructional designers to ensure effective and engaging learning assets are delivered.
  • Develop learner communications, guides, and engagement strategies to support program launches and adoption.
  • Collect and analyze feedback and data to improve content relevance, accessibility, and learner outcomes.
  • Ensure consistency and scalability across delivery formats and business audiences.
  • Stay current on learning trends and professional skills research to bring new ideas to the team.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • 5+ years of experience in learning and development program management, instructional design and facilitation.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles to ensure learner engagement, drive behavior change, and reinforce application of skill in the workplace.
  • Program Management, Stakeholder Management and Growth Mindset (creative thinker, ownership and strong execution).
  • Experience working with or developing technical underwriting training skills.
  • Strong project management and execution skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Comfort working in a matrixed environment and adapting to direction while owning independent workstreams.
  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms.
  • Passion for helping employees grow and succeed through practical and accessible development.
  • Experience with course design, structure and delivery for technical underwriting learning.
  • Experience with AI Agents/Models highly valued.
  • Experience managing Early Career/Trainee Programs
  • Underwriting or Claims experience preferred.

For positions based in Illinois, the base salary range is $105,000-$126,000 and for positions based in NYC, the base salary range is $105,000-$125,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
