Job description

We're looking for a Software Engineer 2 to join Procore's Financials group. In this role, you'll use your technology skills to develop a product that impacts the way communities' hospitals, homes, sports stadiums, and schools across the world are built. You will help revolutionize a historically underserved industry by translating fundamental customer needs into technological SaaS solutions.
As a Software Engineer 2, you'll partner with other software engineering teams to build scalable backend systems that drive our customer-facing applications. Backed by the might of our teams, you will have the resources to build solutions that truly matter.
This position reports into Senior Manger, Software Engineering and will be based in our Austin TX office. We're looking for someone to join us immediately.
What you'll do:
  • AI is central to how we work. You'll be expected to master generative tools and agentic workflows, moving beyond just using AI to actively building the agentic future of construction.
  • Design and build robust backend solutions using Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Java, or Typescript within a microservices architecture.
  • Establish high-quality development standards for teams to ensure code maintainability and system reliability.
  • Collaborate on complex technical initiatives with infrastructure, platform, and other software engineering teams.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using CircleCI and ArgoCD to ensure seamless deployment.
  • Optimize application performance by leveraging technologies like Postgres, AWS, and Kubernetes.
  • Translate fundamental customer needs into scalable technological SaaS solutions.

What we're looking for:
  • 2+ years of experience in software engineering fundamentals, including Test Driven Development (TDD) and design concepts.
  • Proficiency in backend development using Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Java, or similar languages. Experience with Ruby on Rails, a plus.
  • Proven track record of working with software, platforms, and infrastructure at scale, managing thousands of hosts and millions of users.
  • Experience building modern Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) systems in a large-scale environment.
  • Ability to balance immediate business needs with strategic, long-term technical initiatives.
  • Experience working with modern web development lifecycle tools, including testing, staging, deploying, and monitoring.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to course-correct on large team initiatives as needed.
