These positions typically demand relevant technical skills, certifications, and adherence to government hiring procedures.

Will Fullstack be replaced by AI?

Full Stack Developers perform a range of tasks involving coding, system design, and problem-solving that require critical thinking and adaptability. While AI tools can assist with coding and automation, they are unlikely to fully replace the need for human developers who manage complex projects, understand user needs, and integrate various technologies. Continuous learning and proficiency in programming languages, frameworks, and tools remain essential for full stack roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Full Stack Developer Government position, and why are they important?

A Full Stack Developer Government requires expertise in both front-end and back-end development, familiarity with secure coding practices, and a solid understanding of web frameworks and databases, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Experience with tools such as JavaScript, .NET, Java, SQL, cloud platforms, and government-specific systems like FedRAMP-compliant infrastructure is highly valuable, as are certifications in cybersecurity or government IT standards. Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management abilities help in navigating complex requirements and working with cross-functional teams. These competencies ensure reliable, secure solutions that meet the unique standards and regulations of government agencies.

Can you work for the government in cyber security?

Full Stack Developers working for the government in cybersecurity typically need security clearances and knowledge of government regulations. They may work on protecting sensitive information, developing secure applications, and using tools like encryption and intrusion detection systems. Certifications such as CISSP or Security+ can be beneficial for these roles.

What is a Full Stack Developer Government job?

A Full Stack Developer in a government role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining both front-end and back-end applications for government agencies. They work with various technologies, frameworks, and databases to create secure, efficient, and user-friendly digital solutions that meet government regulations and compliance standards. This role often involves collaborating with different teams, including cybersecurity, policy makers, and IT administrators, to ensure reliable and scalable systems. Government Full Stack Developers may work on public websites, internal portals, data management systems, or cloud-based applications to support government services.

Are full stack devs still in demand?

Full stack developers remain in high demand due to their versatility in handling both front-end and back-end development, especially as organizations adopt agile methodologies and digital transformation. Skills in frameworks like React, Angular, Node.js, and cloud platforms enhance employability, with many roles requiring continuous learning and certification. The demand is expected to continue as technology evolves and organizations prioritize full-spectrum development capabilities.

What are some common challenges faced by Full Stack Developers working in government roles?

Full Stack Developers in government settings often navigate challenges such as strict security protocols, legacy system integration, and compliance with regulations like FISMA or FedRAMP. You may work with varied stakeholders who require effective communication and adaptability to changing project scopes. Meeting deadlines while ensuring software is accessible and secure for public use is a frequent demand. However, these unique challenges provide opportunities to develop expertise in government tech stacks and critical problem-solving skills, contributing significantly to essential public sector projects.

Job description

Full Stack Developer - MERN Stack

Relativity, Inc. | Lakeway / Austin, TX | Full-Time, In Office

Relativity is hiring two full-time Full Stack Developers to work alongside our Development Team on secure, mission-critical software for public safety, government, and military-focused customers.

We build modern applications involving secure data sharing, analytics, operational workflows, dashboards, and web-based tools for agencies that need reliable technology.

We are looking for high-upside developers with strong MERN stack ability, sharp problem-solving skills, and the drive to grow fast in a serious software environment.

This is not a role for someone who wants to coast, wait for perfect instructions, or be managed every step of the way. We want builders with high agency, technical curiosity, strong execution speed, and the ability to take ownership.

What We’re Looking For

  • MERN stack experience: MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js
  • JavaScript / TypeScript experience
  • Ability to work across frontend and backend
  • Strong technical fundamentals and systems thinking
  • High ownership and ability to solve problems end-to-end
  • Fast learner with intellectual humility
  • Clean, practical, maintainable coding habits
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Grit under pressure
  • Interest in public safety, government, military, or defense-style technology
  • Ability to understand the real-world operators who use the software
  • Confidence to challenge assumptions and contribute ideas

We are open to candidates with roughly 1–5 years of real development experience. One role is better suited for a stronger mid-level developer who can bring technical depth. The other is better suited for an early-career developer who is hungry, capable, and ready to figure things out fast.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be local to the Austin / Lakeway, TX area
  • Must work full-time from our office
  • No hybrid or remote applicants will be considered
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to pass a drug test

If you want responsibility early, like moving fast, and want to build serious software for serious users, we want to talk.

Company Description

Relativity, Inc. has been developing software solutions for 28 years, specifically tailored to the unique needs of law enforcement, public safety, and military agencies. Our goal is to empower those who serve others by delivering innovative, real-time, cloud-based technology. We focus on enabling full-circle management of information from inception to completion.
