Job description

The Data Management Assistant collaborates with both clinical and non-clinical partners internally & externally to ensure timely collection of data relevant to internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to Cancer Care Ontario, Wait Times Information System (WTIS), EPIC, IPORT, IDS, and Ontario Health West. The overall purpose of the Data Management Assistant position is to ensure accuracy, consistency and coordination of the collection, reporting and submission of the wait times 2 surgical data into EPIC to support HHS leadership teams with external reporting requirements and quality improvement plans.

  1. Community College with focus in Health Information Management Program, healthcare administration and support, or healthcare services
  2. Information management experience, including data validation and interpretation, edit check creation and testing, report creation and generation, and the ability to assess data analytically for quality and consistency
  3. Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Access, and PowerPoint)
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  5. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  6. Ability to prioritize and multi-task with an attention to detail in a constantly changing environment
  7. Demonstrated leadership skills to influence change, critical thinking skills, and sound decision making
  8. 1 year of data management experience related to health care considered an asset
  9. 1 year of technical data collection system experience considered an asset
  10. Familiarity with anatomy, pathophysiology and medical terminology considered an asset
