POSITION SUMMARY 

Grouse Malt House is seeking an entry level, motivated, flexible, and multi-talented Production Technician I. This role, as part of the Grouse production team, requires passion for craft malting and being involved in a fast-paced, growing company.  The Production Technician I is responsible for precise and thorough execution of Grouse production activities with little supervision.

Direct Report: COO  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Production:  

  • Execute all daily production activities as needed, including but not limited to: 
  • Steep in, Transfers, GKV unloads, GKV cleaning, Packaging, Grain Deliveries, and Shipments 
  • Accurate filling of all paperwork and input into Inventory management system (Cin7) 
  • Performing all duties safely and diligently in an appropriate amount of time.  
  • Performing morning checks and/or opening duties as needed.  
  • Receiving incoming raw grain deliveries, processing and filing paperwork appropriately. 
  • Expected Grain Delivery Forms, Bulk Raw Grain Delivery Forms 
  • Set up, grease, clean, and store equipment used to fill raw grain bins.  
  • Daily aware of all batches in progress, coordinating needing movements and activities 
  • Any discrepancy between the current batch status and what it should be needs to be noted on the batch record and brought to the attention of the Quality Technician or COO. 
  • Packaging grain for inventory and customers’ orders, including milling to standard specifications when necessary.  
  • Correctly stack and wrap pallets. 
  • Strap super sacks as necessary for shipping.  
  • Document the state of finished pallets via photograph. 
  • Loading orders/pallets onto delivery trucks, processing and filing paperwork appropriately. 
  • International shipping paperwork if required 
  • Maintaining inventory of grain to be roasted 
  • Roasting batches by following established Quality recipes and parameters 
  • Following, modify, and improve production SOPs and systems when identified 
  • Active troubleshooting as needed, escalating issues to COO and production staff when needed.  
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, & organized work environment. 
  • Assist with any ongoing cleaning and reorganization projects. 
  • Demonstrating knowledge of and compliance with the Allergen (Gluten) and Personal Hygiene Programs. 
  • Participating in hot-steep sensory panels. 
  • Assist with Facility and equipment maintenance as needed.  
  • Ensuring cleaning, closing duties, and checklists are completed.   
  • Performing facility checks and escalating any equipment or process issues present at end of day. 
  • Any other duties as assigned by COO.  

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED 

  • Passion for production in Malthouse, Brewery, or Food processing 
  • Ability to work well with a diverse team 
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to drive a forklift and become forklift certified 
  • Ability to solve problems and set priorities 
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and take direction 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to understand and perform basic math and basic measurements 
  • Ability to work in small, confined spaces and high places 
  • Ability to work extended shifts and weekends 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • The ability to work long hours on your feet  
  • The ability to work in a hot, wet, and loud environment 
  • The ability to lift 50lbs to shoulder height 
  • The ability to work in small, confined spaces and high places 
  • The ability to crouch, bend, lift and reach 
  • The ability to remain focused and level-headed under demanding situations 

COMPENSATION 

Wage information is provided in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and is Grouse Malt House’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation range and benefits offered for this position.  The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education, location, or other position-related reasons. 

Hourly Rate Range: 

$20.00 - $25.00/hr depending on experience
