Job description

PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for the maintenance, repairs and cleanliness of the exterior property of Mall of America®
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs through the exterior property of Mall of America®
  • Responsible for cleanliness of MOA exterior property by sweeping, pressure washing, cleaning, and remove trash and graffiti in landscaped areas, surface lots, parking ramps, loading dock, stair wells, entrances and sidewalks
  • Perform preventive maintenance, general maintenance and repairs of irrigation system throughout MOA external property including landscaped area, flower beds, grass areas.
  • Responsible for general landscaping needs, such as tree trimming, cleaning brush, planting flowers and potted plants.
  • Perform reactive maintenance needs and repairs such as damage to property, repair call boxes, replace fire extinguishers, install + repair signage and headbangers
  • Responsible for snow removal using tractor with plow, vehicle with plow, snow blower or shovel
  • Monitor and record maintenance and repair needs
  • Responsible for basic preventive maintenance and repairs of powered equipment
  • Ability to operate powered equipment such as Bobcat, skid loader, articulating tractor, UTV, chainsaw and basic hand tools etc.
  • Ensure the overall safety of the immediate work area as well as surrounding areas
  • Provide direction and assistance to mall guests, tenants and team members when needed
  • Additional duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid Minnesota Driver's License
  • At least 6 months previous maintenance, landscaping, custodian experience, preferred.
  • Prior working experience using outdoor maintenance equipment such as tractor, Bobcat, skid loader, articulating tractor, UTV, weed trimmers and general powered and nonpowered hand tools.
  • Working knowledge of the safe handling and operation of equipment and materials used in exterior landscaping, property maintenance, and custodial duties.
  • Ability to work variable and/or rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to understand simple verbal and/or written instructions

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be required to speak and listen to co-workers, leaders and guests to understand maintenance needs and communicate a solutions. Team members must also possess a level of hearing that will allow them to continuously be aware of their surroundings, including hearing and responding to alarms, radio communication, vehicles, traffic and sounds from machines and equipment to troubleshoot needs for repair and maintenance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Team members are required to be able to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once while performing their duties. These stimuli may include loud auditory/noise, smells/olfactory, lights, colors, motion, and other visual stimuli, as well as hot/cold temperatures and other tactile stimuli.
