Your Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Noise Analyst to support our Mid-Atlantic Traffic Noise team. The position will be responsible for providing expertise in traffic noise, abatement, and project management. The ideal candidate reviews and approves all preliminary and final traffic noise analysis performed for highway projects. Evaluates and designs feasible and reasonable noise abatement in compliance with 23 CFR 772.
This role can sit in any Stantec office in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Georgia and offers a clear path for growth.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Project management to deliver task orders assigned as well assist in the maintenance and growth of our clients. Growing into contract management.
  • Provide technical oversight of our noise staff, ranging from new hires to senior analysts.
  • Develop DOT compliant noise models using the latest version of TNM by performing highly specialized, complex highway acoustical analysis related to traffic noise modeling, reporting, and design of noise abatement measures.
  • Develop internal and external staff by being actively involved with TRB and other related organizations.
  • Client interactions/meeting attendance at project meetings and public hearings
  • Working knowledge of NEPA requirements and principles
  • Providing QA/QC on deliverables.

The preferred candidate should have experience in planning, managing, and coordinating projects, schedules, and deliverables. Ability to multi-task, prioritize work assignments, and efficiently manage multiple projects and teams while maintaining project schedules. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of transportation planning and project development, especially related to highway projects. Leadership skills to build and maintain great working relationships with staff, colleagues, and others in the private and public sectors. Ability to analyze technical data to draw conclusions, make recommendations and decisions, and clearly communicate recommendations/decisions to colleagues and the public. Problem solver, conflict resolver, and critical thinker tackling complex issues.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Must be proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, Geopak, and/or GIS
  • Familiarity with the noise policies and guidance documents within the mid-Atlantic region is a plus.
  • Having Air Quality experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in the latest version of the Traffic Noise Model (TNM 2.5 or 3.X).
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Proficient with Type I and type II noise meters
  • Familiarity with highway design principles and traffic planning
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within teams to prioritize and balance sometimes heavy workloads to achieve goals while keeping up with a highly mobile and changing environment
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must be able to travel as needed for project assignments
  • Willingness to work outdoors on occasion
  • Must have a good driving record and valid driver's license

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in planning, engineering or environmental discipline preferred.
  • TNM 2.5 Training Certificate from a recognized organization such as NHI.
  • Typical office environment
  • Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
