Job description

Iteris is looking to hire a Full-Time NCDOT Incident Management Assistance Patrol (IMAP) Training Manager in Raleigh, NC areas to work on-site and support the North Carolina Department of Transportation with IMAP Training. The position would require serving as a champion in the development of IMAP Training, participating in multi-agency collaborative TIM Training, and overseeing 3 IMAP Trainers.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead IMAP Training Program to ensure all IMAP responders and supervisors are provided initial and recurring training, testing and certification to ensure providing safety of the IMAP driver and the general public
  • Curriculum Management: Directing the comprehensive IMAP Field Training Guide that covers incident command, quick clearance, and field safety protocols
  • Statewide Coordination: Overseeing multi-agency interdisciplinary training events and standardizing operating procedures for traffic operations
  • Performance Assessment: Tracking responder competency, managing training records, and refining standards in coordination with TSMO strategic plans
  • Facility Utilization: Leveraging the co-located Traffic Incident Management Training Track in Raleigh for high-stress, realistic, multi-agency emergency drills
  • Provide technical expertise, operational guidance, and training support related to incident response, congestion management, responder safety, IMAP operations, and TIM best practices
  • Assist with the review, development, and routine updates of TIM-related standard operating procedures, guidelines, response plans, checklists, and coordination documents
  • Provide operational support for major incidents and high-profile events, including IMAP-involved incidents, law enforcement-involved incidents, fatalities, wrong-way driving events, extended closures, special events, weather-related events, and other critical roadway impacts
  • Maintain training logs of IMAP responder attendance
  • Support development of TIM-related content for meetings, outreach events, TSM&O publications, ITS-related submissions, agency briefings, presentations, and partner communications
  • Perform other IMAP related duties as assigned by NCDOT

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Associate degree in a relevant field, or equivalent qualifications attained with over 10 years of training experience in traffic operations, incident management, law enforcement, and/or emergency response
  • Previous field experience in traffic operations, incident management, law enforcements, and/or emergency response
  • Ability to develop training curriculum and materials to be delivered by other staff
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on processes
  • Ability to travel to support assessments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Flexibility to support client project activities outside of normal business hours as needed

Iteris anticipates paying an annual base between $120,000 and $135,000 for this role. Actual pay offered may be below or above these amounts, depending on the individual’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
