Job description

Darigold is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our Pasco, WA team. As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dairy facility. This position will entail overseeing maintenance staff, to execute a preventive maintenance strategy while upholding Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as Darigold standards of safety, food safety, quality, reliability, and cost.
The Maintenance Supervisor role is to serve as a leader and partner for the plant in the areas of plant maintenance, automation & controls, wastewater treatment, utility systems, maintenance support services, and training. The Maintenance Supervisor will work closely with the plant operations team, Environmental Health and Safety, and Quality Assurance to ensure that the site achieves its goals for safety, food safety, quality, sustainability, productivity, reliability, and cost.
What You Will Do:
Safety and Compliance:
  • Partner with plant leadership to drive a robust culture of safety & quality based on recognition and accountability.
  • Conduct safety training sessions and drills.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance in safety programs such as LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety.
  • Manage a safe working environment for all.

Quality Control:
  • Lead, guide, develop, audit, and follow quality standards for craftmanship, for maintenance as well as contractors.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to improve and maintain quality standards for products and processes.

Team Leadership:
  • Supervise maintenance staff, including maintenance technicians, and storeroom clerks.
  • Foster a positive work environment and encourage teamwork.
  • Address performance issues promptly and provide coaching as needed.
  • Develop training plans for employees to build technical capability and adherence to plant safety and quality goals.
  • Deliver on maintenance programs with an emphasis towards OEE-based performance.
  • Work directly with vendors, contractors, and data to understand planned PM requirements and improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to improve KPI's in OEE, planned vs. unplanned work, labor allocation, PM schedule adherence, process stops, minor stops, cost of maintenance, unplanned downtime, breakdown etc.
  • Utilize continuous improvement tools to improve plant reliability including: 5S, CIL (clean inspect lubricate), breakdown analysis, Gemba Walks, 5 Whys, Value Stream Mapping, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), Pareto, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), FMEA, etc.
  • Partner with plant personnel and direct reports to resolve customer concerns and root cause analysis for off spec production.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with plant management, and/or customers and vendors.
  • Work cross-functionally to use and improve electronic systems (CMMS, Down time reporting, plant controls, maintenance training, safety tools and resources, etc.)

Equipment Maintenance:
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of production, building, and utility equipment.
    • Pumps, valves, separators, RO, case packers, palletizers, sensors, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, forklifts, etc.
  • Schedule routine inspections and coordinate repairs with maintenance teams.
  • Executing Preventive Maintenance strategies to increase uptime.

What You Bring:
  • Proven experience in maintenance supervision, preferably within a dairy processing plant.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems.
    • Utilities - Electrical, Steam, Air, Water, Wastewater, and Refrigeration
    • Building systems - HVAC, Fire, Security
    • Mechanical - Power transmission (gearboxes, chain and sprocket, belt and pulleys, etc.), Pumps, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) and inventory tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products - Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills
  • Experience in dairy, beverage, packaging, or processing industry.
  • Ability to work effectively with all plant employees and build effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with mechanical systems, plant automation, fluid processing, carpentry, electrical, building maintenance, wastewater treatment, steam generation, and refrigeration.
  • Good technical understanding of manufactured dairy products
  • Ability to troubleshoot reliability issues in a manufacturing environment in a plant that operates 24/7

Salary Range: $80,168.40 to $111,640.00 per year
