Job Title: Millwright Apprentice

Job Description

This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial equipment in a heavy industrial processing facility. You will work with mechanical systems, interpret blueprints, and use a variety of tools and equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation of conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and related systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial equipment such as conveyors, pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate assembly, alignment, and installation of equipment and piping.
  • Operate heavy equipment including forklifts, lifts, and hoists in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Use welding, sheet metal, and power tools to perform fabrication, modification, and repair tasks on mechanical components and structures.
  • Perform mechanical systems troubleshooting to identify issues and implement effective repairs and joining processes.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and mechanical systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Work with piping systems, including plumbing and industrial piping, to install, repair, and maintain process lines.
  • Apply knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical systems to diagnose and correct equipment performance problems.

Qualifications

  • Comfort working at heights, climbing, and navigating industrial environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds safely and repeatedly as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to job-specific safety protocols.

Work Environment

This position is based in a heavy industrial corn processing facility, where you will work around corn slurry and various process chemicals in the piping systems, making the job dirty at times. The role operates on a Monday through Friday schedule with two primary shifts: first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. You will be part of a large on-site crew of approximately 120 people, typically working in smaller teams of 5 to 10. The environment requires appropriate personal protective equipment and attire, including steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a long-sleeve shirt, to ensure safety and compliance with site requirements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr.
