Job description

Minimum basic skills and abilities for the position are as follows:

Must have minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Wood Products or related industry as a mechanical millwright, attend West Fraser Qualified Millwright Training, complete competency checklist per level, score a 21 on the Mechanical Reasoning assessment and Level 1 on the Millwright assessment, and have own tools.

General mechanical working knowledge:

    1. Repair/replace/maintain, all mobile equipment parts as well as chains, sprockets, bearings, belts, gearbox, motors, etc.
    2. Metal fabrication
    3. Welding; arc, acetylene, and others.
    4. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment
    5. Align and calibrate equipment
    6. Perform preventive maintenance.
    7. Hand Power Tools; drill, sander, grinder, band saw, etc.
    8. Construction/structural assembly.
    9. Measurements reading English/Metric; tape, caliper, ruler and other.
    10. Accountable for working safely
    11. Must provide quality workmanship.
    12. Must assign work and confirm completion.
    13. Direct and ensure quality work from contractors.
    14. Issuing hot work permits to meet AON guidelines.

General safety knowledge:

    1. Personal protective equipment (PPE).
    2. Lockout and Tag out.
    3. Fall Protection

Housekeeping:

    1. Maintain working area clean, shop, field area, vehicle and other.
    2. Keep working equipment/shop tools orderly.
