GD Resources LLC is seeking experienced Journeyman A/C Equipment Mechanics (HVAC/Refrigeration Technicians) to support facility maintenance operations at the North Texas VA Medical Center (NTXVAMC) in Dallas, Texas.

The selected candidates will perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of complex heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems supporting a major healthcare facility.

Position Summary

The A/C Equipment Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, operating, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical systems throughout the VA medical center.

The position supports critical hospital infrastructure, including small domestic HVAC equipment, large commercial refrigeration systems, central air conditioning systems, ventilation systems, heating equipment, mechanical controls, and related building systems.

The successful candidate must be a skilled journeyman refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic with the ability to independently diagnose complex equipment issues, perform preventive maintenance, complete repairs, and ensure reliable operation of HVAC systems in a healthcare environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesHVAC and Refrigeration System Maintenance

Perform installation, operation, maintenance, and repair activities involving:

  • Air conditioning systems.

  • Refrigeration equipment.

  • Heating systems.

  • Ventilation systems.

  • Central HVAC systems.

  • Mechanical equipment.

  • Cooling systems.

  • Building environmental control systems.

Maintain equipment ranging from:

  • Small domestic HVAC units.

  • Large central HVAC systems of approximately 500 tons capacity.

Troubleshooting and Repair

Coordination and Communication

The A/C Equipment Mechanic will coordinate daily activities with VA personnel while remaining under the supervision and management of GD Resources LLC.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reporting daily to the VA Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for assignments.

  • Coordinating work activities with VA facility personnel.

  • Providing updates on completed work and equipment status.

  • Communicating issues requiring additional attention.

  • Performing assigned duties independently with minimal supervision.

Reporting and Documentation Responsibilities

At the conclusion of each shift, the technician shall provide the COR with updates regarding:

  • Specific tasks performed.

  • Preventive maintenance completed, including equipment and location serviced.

  • Parts replaced, including equipment identification information when applicable.

  • Equipment issues requiring additional repair or follow-up.

  • Name(s) of technician(s) performing the work.

Technicians must also complete daily timecards documenting all hours worked. GD Resources LLC will compile and submit time records with monthly billing documentation.

Work Schedule

The standard work schedule is:

  • Monday through Friday

  • 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

  • Approximately 80 hours per pay period

All work must be coordinated with VA personnel before beginning assigned tasks.

Any work performed outside normal business hours requires prior approval from the Contracting Officer Representative (COR).

Overtime must be authorized in advance by the Government and may only be performed following applicable approval procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • Minimum four (4) years of journeyman-level HVAC/refrigeration experience.

  • Active Texas HVAC License.

  • Current OSHA Safety Certification.

  • Siemens Controls Training Certification.

  • Experience maintaining commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.

  • Knowledge of refrigeration principles and HVAC mechanical systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
