About the Role

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of machinery, equipment, and systems within our cold storage facility. This role requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and resolving issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on machinery, equipment, and systems, including refrigeration units, conveyors, and material handling equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance tasks, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and other team members to prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

What You Bring to the Pak

  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a cold storage or similar environment.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  • Certifications: [required/preferred certifications – e.g., “HACCP, BRC required. OSHA certification a plus.”]
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in cold storage environments as low as -10°F
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
