Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Maintenance

Pay Rate: $30.00/ hr

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Summary:

This is a skilled position at the journeyman level in several trades. An employee in this class will be performing various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of machinery, buildings and equipment. Work involves primary responsibility for proficiency in several trades, with working conditions and the degree of supervision exercised differing according to the location and nature of the assignments. The employee exercises technical independence in determining work methods and procedures and receives assignments orally or through written instructions, which may be accompanied by sketches or diagrams. Review of work from technical or administrative superiors through inspections and discussion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Installs, alters, electrical conduit, wiring, switching devices, controls, outlets, fixtures, motors, transformers and other such equipment.
  • Test, maintains and evaluates equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers and pressure gauges. Troubleshoot PLC's with computer terminal.
  • Perform trouble shooting of faulty equipment and perform minor repairs as required and see to general maintenance of system.
  • Performs skilled maintenance activities including construction, welding, brazing, soldering and plumbing.
  • Checks and repairs pumps, fans, valves and motors.
  • Adjusts repairs and replaces electrical and electronic pneumatic relays.
  • Prepare accurate records for preventive maintenance.
  • Performs related work as required
  • Must be willing to abide by the company handbook in regard to following safety rules and job rotations.
  • Must be willing to report unsafe conditions, reporting unsafe acts, participating in safety/ergo committees, participating in safety Kazan events, participating in blue sky initiatives, participating in safety audits, and participating in safety observation feedback events.
  • Participate in communications events such as plant wide meetings, line meetings, department meetings, and training exercises.
