Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Maintenance Assistant, you will support the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, equipment, and grounds by performing a variety of minor repairs, preventative maintenance, cleaning, and general facility support activities. Working under the guidance of a Maintenance Engineer or Mechanic, you will help ensure our buildings and surrounding areas remain safe, clean, functional, and well maintained.

Every day, you will perform a wide range of minor preventative maintenance tasks on the building, equipment and grounds to
retain assigned facility in an acceptable state. You will also support maintenance projects and work orders, maintain tools and equipment, and coordinate the ordering and receipt of parts and materials needed to complete repairs.

To be successful in this role, you will be dependable, safety-minded, and willing to work collaboratively with maintenance staff and other team members. You will demonstrate attention to detail, good organizational skills, the ability to follow instructions and established safety practices, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

  • Performs general building and facility maintenance by assisting with minor painting, plumbing, electrical, repairs, cleaning, pressure washing, steam cleaning, litter removal, and other preventative maintenance activities as directed.
  • Maintains and supports hospital, kitchen, and facility equipment by performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance under the guidance of a Maintenance Engineer; maintains tools, equipment rooms, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe operating condition.
  • Supports facility projects and work orders by assisting Maintenance Engineers, Mechanics, and other trades with assigned tasks; assembles, installs, moves, and arranges office furniture, files, cabinets, pictures, hooks, and other facility items as needed.
  • Maintains exterior areas and grounds by assisting with the upkeep of areas surrounding assigned buildings and ensuring grounds, walkways, and outdoor spaces remain clean, orderly, and in excellent condition; may also support office paper-recycling pickup and delivery.
  • Prepares and maintains classrooms and meeting spaces by setting up rooms according to requested arrangements, making adjustments to layouts as necessary, and ensuring spaces are ready to support meetings, classes, and other activities.
  • Coordinates parts, materials, and supplies needed for maintenance activities by ordering and receiving materials, making trips to obtain necessary parts, assigning purchase orders, maintaining related paperwork, and ensuring required resources are available to complete repairs and work assignments safely and efficiently.
