Job description

WACOSA is currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Maintenance Assistant to help maintain our facility, equipment, and grounds. The ideal candidate will assist with repairs, preventative maintenance, cleaning, and general upkeep to ensure a safe and functional environment.

The Maintenance Assistant will also play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live meaningful, fulfilling, and independent lives.

Pay: $18.76 - $20.22 per hour

Responsibilities of a Maintenance Assistant:

  • Perform repair maintenance on equipment, buildings and grounds.
  • Maintain the grounds, landscaping and parking areas.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance according to schedules and documents maintenance done.
  • Responsible for floor care, including sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, auto scrubbing, carpet cleaning and refinishing.
  • Snow removal
  • Maintain safety and act as a role model at all times.
  • Schedule repairs on WACOSA vehicles and perform safety checks, as needed.
  • Assist with pickups and delivery needs in coordination with department needs
  • Ability to operate sefely all equipment, including but not limited to: trucks, client transportation vehicles, balers, skid loaders, snow removal equipment, forklifts, etc.

Qualifications and Skills for a Maintenance Assistant:

  • Must have HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with vehicle maintenance, production equipment, janitorial equipment, chemicals, and other miscellaneous equipment/ maintenance issues.
  • Must be 20 years of age or older, possess a valid MN Drivers License and insurable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with adult lifts and transfers.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
