Job Summary

At Heartland Coca-Cola Bottling, you can build a long-term career in maintenance with a clear path from entry-level roles to advanced technical and leadership positions. Gain hands-on experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment while developing skills in mechanical systems, electrical troubleshooting, and automation.

The Maintenance Apprentice supports the maintenance team in maintaining and repairing production and facility equipment while developing foundational technical skills in a manufacturing environment. This role performs tasks under direct guidance while assisting with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment setup, gaining hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Through training and collaboration, the Maintenance Apprentice contributes to safe, efficient operations and builds the skills needed for advancement.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on production and facility equipment.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve equipment issues, minimizing downtime and maintaining safe operations.
  • Assist with equipment setup, changeovers, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, adjustments, cleaning, and basic part replacements.  Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete required documentation.
  • Participate in training programs, including classroom, on-the-job, and certification opportunities.  Learn to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work instructions. 
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance technicians, production teams, and leadership to support operational goals.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures; actively support a safe work environment and report hazards.  Keep work areas clean and organized in accordance with 5S and GMP standards.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one year of work experience required
  • Enrollment in or completion of a technical, vocational, or apprenticeship program (industrial maintenance, mechatronics, electrical, or related field) preferred
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or mechanical environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial maintenance or skilled trades
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance concepts or CMMS systems
  • Basic exposure to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and willingness to learn equipment maintenance
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to follow instructions in a team environment
Physical Requirements
  • Standing: Frequently (standing on feet for extended periods of time), up to 12 hours.
  • Speaking: Often (investigates, coordinates, recommends, reports)
  • Acute Vision: Constantly (observing both near and far, reading documents)
  • Mobility: Frequent travel throughout facility and equipment
  • Bending/Squatting: Frequent bending and squatting to complete maintenance/installation tasks.
  • Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to perform maintenance/repair tasks.
  • Lifting:  Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Climbing: Occasional use of ladders or stairs.
  • Climate: Frequent work in a non-climate-controlled environment (cold, hot)

Pay: $20.50 - 22.65 an hour
