Position Summary:
This is a new position reporting to the Engineering Manager.  The Jackson, TN facility produces Datacom & OEM Assembly products.  As the facility continues to aggressively increase in productivity and it lowers its manufacturing costs, there is a need to recruit a Maintenance/Facility Engineering Manager to provide direction and leadership to the Maintenance department.

Basic Function:
Accountable to the Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for planning and implementing preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, installation and modification of building construction and repair on an efficient and timely basis through effective management and utilization of the Maintenance Department.  Also, included are the environmental requirements for the facility under all local, state and Federal Jurisdiction and laws.

Principle Functional Responsibilities:
  • Direct the activities of the maintenance department to ensure that all plant equipment is maintained and repaired with minimum downtime.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance for all machines and make sure scheduling is executed.
  • Supervise installation of new machines, check, and inspect them before put in use and keep records after they are in use.
  • Coordinate priority maintenance scheduling with production requirements in conjunction with production department managers and production scheduling department.
  • Enforce all safety procedures and policies.
  • Establish contact with vendors as needed, prepare performance specifications, take and approve bids, and control all work to insure quality and performance compliance.
  • Budget and control department costs. Perform special projects as required.

Environmental Responsibilities:
Manage the environmental program to include routine compliance audits, completing corporate and government reporting and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor stormwater and wastewater discharge process and prevention activities.
  • Oil Spill prevention and control.
  • Industrial solid waste activities.
  • Keep Hazard Communication Program current.
  • Routine inspections, audits and record keeping.

Supervision Scope:
Responsible for the direction of all Maintenance Department associates and controlling facility environmental control efforts.

Key Requirements:
  • A results driven individual who has demonstrated ability working in a high-performance manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in Maintenance Engineering and Environmental Management in a Manufacturing arena.
  • Must have good attention to details but be able to manage the big picture and have “make the numbers” mentality.
  • Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.
  • Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement.
  • Critical thinker with excellent analytical ability.
  • Good written and oral skills.
  • Solid planning, leadership, and administrative skills.
  • High energy demonstrates urgency and fast pace.
  • Manage Health & Safety Programs, including safety training, record keeping and reporting.
  • Experience working in a team-based environment and/or training in team dynamics, facilitation and problem solving.
  • Facility expert on all ESH activities.

Desired Background:
  • 7 – 10 years Maintenance Engineering Experience Project Management.
  • Experience Proven ability to work in teams.

Education:
  • BS degree in Engineering, preferred Master’s degree.
