Job Overview:

Pay Range: $12.20hr - $17.20hr

Requirement/Must Have:

  • Minimal data entry skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Understanding of specimen types related to test(s) ordered.
  • Knowledge of clinical department requirements regarding specimen types, quantity needed, handling, and delivery.
  • Understanding of compliance regulations related to test ordering.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change and pursuit of continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to fulfilling internal and external customer requirements.
  • Willingness to actively contribute to a team-based working environment.
  • Ability and willingness to support department staffing needs including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
  • Ability to perform tasks with confidence, accuracy, and in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency in manual functions including sorting, racking, and centrifugation.
  • Proficiency in pickup and delivery of specimens to the laboratory.
  • Proficiency in specimen storage and aliquoting.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Medical background preferred, including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
  • Previous experience in a production environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with mainframe computers preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general support functions within the Technical Operations Department.
  • Learn job duties and develop an understanding of how functions in Tech Ops and Specimen Processing impact technical departments and result quality.
  • Identify problems with specimen types or missing information regarding sorting, racking, centrifuging, delivery, and storage.
  • Resolve or forward information in support of timely problem resolution.
  • Research test order information on translation tables, computer systems, and the directory of services.
  • Meet quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training.
  • Complete all required written documentation legibly and within assigned time frames.
  • Follow attendance guidelines and support the department in the event of coworker absences.
  • Learn additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing for career progression.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a production environment.
  • Maintain composure while working under pressure.
  • Adhere to core values, safety, compliance, and work process policies.
  • Work in a biohazard environment in compliance with all safety requirements.
  • Keep work area neat and clean in compliance with 5S workplace standards.
