Position: Mainframe Developer
Compensation: $ 10000 - 110000 annually, depending on experience
Location: Houston, Texas
Inceed has partnered with a great company to help find a skilled Mainframe Developer to join their team!
This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented mainframe professional to support critical applications in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. In this role, you'll help develop, test, and maintain legacy systems that keep core business operations running smoothly while contributing to process improvements and long-term application stability.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications
  • Support production systems and resolve application issues
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Partner with stakeholders to define application needs
  • Document system changes, user guides, and procedures
  • Assist with software performance testing and defect correction
  • Support implementation, training, and sustainment efforts
  • Contribute to Agile daily support and project work
  • Provide timely updates on project status and progress
  • Help improve application reliability and effectiveness

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • 2-5 years of mainframe applications programming experience
  • Hands-on experience with z/OS, MVS JCL, TSO/ISPF, and COBOL II
  • Working knowledge of at least one: PL/1, EasyTrieve Plus, CICS, IMS, DB2
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience researching and troubleshooting software issues
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Source control experience
  • Exposure to Transact SQL
  • Experience with ASP.NET or C#
  • Familiarity with HTML, XML, or IIS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure or DevOps
  • Experience working with third-party software vendors
