Senior Mainframe DB2 DBA (z/OS) Overview / Summary We are seeking a strong and experienced Mainframe DB2 DBA with hands-on expertise managing highly critical databases across multiple environments. The ideal candidate will have experience working with multiple teams, supporting database availability, performance, and operational stability in both production and non-production environments. Key Responsibilities DB2 (z/OS) Create and maintain DB2 databases, tables, and physical data models. Develop, maintain, and support DB2 database maintenance jobs. Review SQL statements and recommend or create indexes to optimize performance. Review and support LOAD/UNLOAD processes and jobs. Review and support data movement processes across environments. Provide technical support and guidance to application teams on DB2-related topics. Investigate and resolve database-related production and non-production issues. Analyze and resolve database performance issues through tuning and optimization. Provide guidance and support for data access requests and database governance activities. IMS DB (Good to Have) Create, maintain, and update IMS Database Description (DBD) definitions. Create and maintain Program Specification Block (PSB) definitions. Add databases to the Database Utility Generator (DUG) to enable test database creation. Design, develop, and maintain database maintenance, backup, recovery, and utility job flows. Implement new database objects based on business and application requirements. Modify existing database objects to support application enhancements and infrastructure changes. Investigate and resolve production incidents and database-related issues. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in development, test, and QA environments. Analyze and resolve IMS database performance issues. Monitor database space utilization and capacity and support growth planning. Provide technical consultation and support to application analysts and development teams. Review, support, and advise on data movement, migration, and data conversion activities. PostgreSQL (Optional) Create and maintain PostgreSQL databases, tables, and physical data models. Review SQL statements and implement indexing strategies to improve database performance. Review and optimize data movement and data integration processes. Provide technical guidance and support to application teams on PostgreSQL-related topics. Investigate, analyze, and resolve database performance issues. Provide guidance on data access requests and database security procedures. Coordinate with other teams for requests requiring approvals, governance, or infrastructure support. Required Qualifications Strong hands-on experience with Mainframe DB2 on z/OS. Experience maintaining highly critical databases across multiple environments. Experience working with multiple teams and stakeholders. Strong experience with database performance tuning and optimization. Experience supporting database maintenance, data movement, and production support activities. IMS DB experience or exposure is preferred. Exposure or experience with PostgreSQL is a plus. Ability to work in high-visibility and high-pressure environments while ensuring database availability across production and test environments. Excellent communication skills.
