Our client, a leading enterprise in the technology sector, is seeking a Mainframe IMS Application DBA to join their team. As a Mainframe IMS Application DBA, you will be part of the Database Support Department supporting the IMS Database Management team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Mainframe IMS Application DBA

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

What's the Job?

  • Manage and support IMS database environments in a high-availability enterprise setting.
  • Support and maintain various IMS database types including Full Function, Fast Path, and HALDB.
  • Perform database administration activities such as definition, allocation, and dataset management.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with application development, system programmers, and operations teams to ensure database integrity and efficiency.

What's Needed?

  • Minimum of 7 years of DBA experience supporting IMS databases in a z/OS environment using Sysplexed Data Sharing.
  • Strong knowledge of IMS database types, utilities, and maintenance activities.
  • Hands-on experience with IMS utilities, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, REXX, and batch/online IMS environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting database abends, data corruption, and integrity issues.
