Job Description
We offer a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities. After initial training in-person, this specific role could have the flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a mainframe systems administrator. The ideal candidate would have experience with z/OS systems software installation, maintenance and administration with experience in the role of team leader or project coordinator. The position requires the following, but is not limited to:
  • Defining and programming software routines using established mainframe programming languages.
  • Installing and/or maintaining vendor supplied software packages using SMP/E.
  • Providing technical support to applications programming and other support areas in the use of systems software.
  • Debugging problems where systems software may be involved.
  • Changing operating system settings/options to support business needs and to optimize performance.
  • Assisting in developing and recommending standards and best practices in the use of systems software.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Coursework with emphasis in computer science techniques is also preferred.
  • The individual should have strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work with people in a team environment.
  • Ability to clearly articulate thoughts and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to work occasionally outside the normal business hours.
  • Experience in CICS installation/administration preferred.
