Job description

Mail Room Assistant

This position is accountable for assisting management with driving mail route as well as performing all mail room functions required. This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies:

  • Teamwork: Students build teamwork skills by collaborating with supervisors, staff, and peers to support department goals, assist others, and contribute to a positive work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drives the daily mail route to deliver mail/packages as well as special daily deliveries as required.
  • Work with staff, faculty, and external customers on mailing needs to meet deadlines.
  • Services customers at the walk-up retail window. Preps customers outgoing mail, UPS, FEDEX, Amazon etc. packages.
  • Executes retail purchase transactions.
  • Sorts incoming mail and packages to prep for internal delivery
  • Delivers mail and packages to internal and student customers
  • Operates the Pitney & Bowes machinery to meter outgoing mail with correct postage
  • Logs incoming packages and priority mailings
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and customer services skills required
  • Ability to lift up to 40-pound packages
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY

Must be Federal Work Study Eligible

Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Current driver license with verifiable good driving record via HR report from DMV
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision

Description of Hours: Monday-Friday 4 hours per day between 10am-and 4:30pm
