Transactions Specialist I Mail Extractor

Are you detail-oriented and ready to play a vital role in keeping critical financial operations running smoothly? As part of JPMorganChase's Receivables Operations team, your work as a Transactions Specialist I Mail Extractor directly supports the accurate and timely processing of client payments. This is your opportunity to contribute to a high-impact, production-based environment with a team that values quality, efficiency, and collaboration.

As a Transactions Specialist I Mail Extractor in Receivables Operations – Lockbox Operations, you will extract mail, scan documents, and create transactions while meeting daily production, accuracy, and quality expectations. Your attention to detail and ability to follow controlled procedures will be essential to maintaining the integrity of each transaction processed. This role offers a structured, team-oriented environment where your reliability and precision make a direct impact every day.

Job responsibilities:

  • Extract and prepare work by opening envelopes, removing contents, and organizing items into bundles and trays for processing.
  • Scan documents on OPEX equipment in the required order and orientation, ensuring all items are captured correctly.
  • Classify documents accurately (e.g., check, check stub, coupon, material, envelopes) and correct misclassifications using system tools.
  • Validate check items for negotiability and identification, and follow established guidance for special items.
  • Handle multi-check and no-check transactions by matching items when possible and scanning in the required sequence when items are mixed or unmatched.
  • Ensure image quality by reviewing scanned images, re-running items if needed, and cleaning equipment when necessary.
  • Complete required tray and run details, including mail received date/time, tray number, mail type, and courier tracking number when applicable.
  • Close and band bundles at the appropriate size and maintain scanned order when removing items from scanner bins.
  • Escalate exceptions such as cash, foreign items, and unimageable/bulk/merchandise items to the designated associate, team lead, or supervisor per procedure.
  • Work across production areas as needed to support overall team goals.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume production environment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a time-sensitive production environment with shifting priorities.
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Must be a collaborative team player with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
  • Physical requirements include sitting up to 95% of the time, standing and walking up to 10% of the time, and lifting up to 50 pounds up to 5% of the time.
  • A Government Security Clearance is required for this role, which may include fingerprinting, a credit check, employment history verification, and additional requirements per program specifications. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon successfully obtaining and maintaining the required clearance.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Prior experience in remittance processing, lockbox operations, or a related banking/financial services environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with OPEX or similar document scanning equipment is a plus.
  • Experience working in a production-based or operations environment with daily quality and productivity targets.
  • Prior experience working in a government-cleared or security-sensitive environment is a plus.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4pm

This position may require you to work non-traditional hours and/or additional hours as business needs arise. Work schedule might be subject to change. A Government Security Clearance may be required for this position. This includes, but is not limited to: fingerprints, credit check, employment history, tax filing history (possibly), references (possibly), proof of U.S. legal permanent residence.
