DOC Taylorville CC Mailroom Office Assistant

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking an organized and detail-oriented person to serve as the Office Assistant in the Mailroom at Taylorville Correctional Center. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with multiple parties.

Position Overview:

  • Processes and distributes incoming and outgoing individuals in custody and staff mail.
  • Maintains a log for each individual in custody incoming mail concerning monies received.
  • Processes outgoing individuals in custody mail according to the U.S. Postal Service Regulations.
  • Distributes mail of individuals in custody who have been discharged, paroled, or transferred.
  • Processes incoming books and periodicals for Publication Review.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of those duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Requires one (1) year of related office experience.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
  • The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.
